It has its headquarters in Rome, from which it coordinates initiatives and projects, but is present along the national coastal territory with regional offices.
The presence on the national territory of specialized technicians and researchers and the experience gained over the years have allowed CIRSPE to consolidate over time a relationship of fruitful collaboration both with cooperative companies and with the Public Administration.
CIRSPE’s numerous thematic skills (fishing technology, analysis of biological resources and management plans, aquaculture, lagoon and coastal strip management, sector regulations and policies, socio-economic surveys) guarantee an effective response to the real needs of the operators of the sector and offer constant support to those called to carry out the planning of management interventions of biological resources.
To combine the protection of the territory with the needs of socio-economic development, CIRSPE actively works in trying to transfer to fishing and aquaculture companies technical skills and managerial skills useful for a responsible management of production processes, to ensure sustainable exploitation of resources. and safeguarding the employment levels and incomes of operators.
There are numerous information and dissemination interventions conducted for the various operators in the sector, as part of the national programming of the Three-year Fishing Plans.
CIRSPE is recognized as a research institute by the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies (D.M. 26/10/99); he is also registered in the National Research Registry of the Ministry of the University of Scientific Research and Technology (N. G06900A0).
